📚 Британські Правила:

Yesterday, Mary went to the doctor's. 🏥

🗣️ "How often do you exercise?"

🗣️ "Do you drink milk?"

🔄 The doctor asked Mary how often she exercised.

🔄 She also asked her if/whether she drank milk.

1. Wh- Questions

Починаємо з ask або want to know. Якщо пряме запитання починається з питального слова (who, where, how, when, why, what), ми його залишаємо!
⚠️ Знак питання зникає, порядок слів стає прямим (як у звичайному реченні).

🗣️ "Why are you late?" Mother asked me.
🔄 Mother asked me why I was late.

🗣️ "How often do you exercise?" the doctor asked Mary.
🔄 The doctor asked Mary how often she exercised.

2. Yes/No Questions

Якщо запитання починається з допоміжного або модального дієслова (is, do, have, can, may...), ми використовуємо if або whether (чи). Порядок слів знову стає прямим! Часи та займенники змінюються.

🗣️ "Can you speak French?" they asked me.
🔄 They asked me if/whether I could speak French.

🗣️ "Are you working tomorrow morning?" Paul asked her.
🔄 Paul asked her if she was working the next morning.

3. Commands & Requests

Для наказів (Commands) використовуємо order / tell + особа + (not) to-інфінітив.
Для прохань (Requests - часто є слово 'please') використовуємо ask / beg + особа + (not) to.

🗣️ "Give me your money!" he said.
🔄 He ordered me to give him my money.

🗣️ "Please, please don't tell anyone," she said.
🔄 She begged him not to tell anyone.

4. Suggestions

Для пропозицій (Suggestions - фрази типу Let's..., We can/could..., Shall we..., How about...) ми використовуємо дієслово suggest + -ing form (дієслово з закінченням -ing).

🗣️ "Let's play a game," Father said.
🗣️ "How about playing a game?" Father said.
🔄 Father suggested playing a game.

🗣️ The teacher suggested making some cards.
